Beyond Music: 10 ways to stay mentally healthy

At our first general body meeting, we shared that we'll be hosting an event in the the spring 2020 semester centered around mental health in the music industry. This industry can be cutthroat and it's important to take care of yourself. In light of our event next semester, here are 10 self care activities to ensure you are staying mentally healthy and can get out of a rut!


  1. Find something funny to do, like reading New Yorker Cartoons

  2. Sign up for a class that excites you at your college or online

  3. Call a family member or friend you haven't spoken to in a long time

  4. Sleep or take a nap

  5. Go to your favorite café for coffee or tea

  6. Visit a local museum or art gallery

  7. Sell something you don't need anymore or donate to a local thrift store

  8. Work outside in the sun

  9. Make a list of people you admire and describe what it is you like about them

  10. Make a list of 10 things you're good at or like about yourself and keep it with you to read

  11. Create your own list of self care activities!
